About
I’m a 50 something guy of South Indian origin, living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I work in tech – semiconductors to be specific. I have two kids, a dog, a succulent garden and a whole bunch of pre-Bonsai trees. My room is cluttered, and so is my brain. I never make my bed. I have too many tabs open in all 5 of my browsers. I have a lot of todo lists because I love making them, and not so much looking at them later. I am curious about too many things, start too many projects that I don’t finish, obsess about little details and ignore the big stuff. It’s a complete miracle that I have made it this far: that I have a profitable career, a family that have stuck with me and a handful of people that care to call me friend.
I have an Engineering degree in Electronics and Communications. I’ve spent thirty years in the semiconductor industry, surfing the biggest waves in modern technology: the Personal Computer, the Internet, Mobile communications, and now, Artificial Intelligence. Make no mistake: there was no plan. My career has been a random walk— I just kept an open mind, followed my curiosity, and took one step at a time. It has taken me through some of the most influential companies in computer hardware, including 3Com, Cisco and Nokia, and recent stints at Nvidia and AMD. In the last third of my career, I focused on the power efficiency of processors that go into game consoles, car computers and of late, AI data centers.
Going by the amount of time I have spent on various interests over the years, I think my main ones are watching (and casually playing) sports, learning conceptual science, growing bonsai trees, reading books – science and science fiction being the top genres, random DIY projects and writing. I hope to share some of these on this website going forward. But who knows – this is more than likely going to be one of those projects that I eagerly start, but…
